A University of Georgia student was arrested and charged with DUI after he knocked over a concrete barrier and got stuck on top of it at a gas station on South Milledge Avenue Friday at 7:50 p.m.
Athens-Clarke County police responded to the accident and reportedly noticed the Honda SUV’s “driver side front wheel sustained significant damage and was cracked.”
The reporting officer spoke with the driver, UGA student Nathan Paul Cohan, 20, who reportedly said “that he had his wheel turned the wrong way and simply hit the barrier. He tried to drive off, but became stuck.”
While talking to him, the reporting officer “noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Mr. Cohan’s breath,” according to the police report.
Cohan reportedly said he hadn’t consumed any alcohol that day or night before. He declined doing a field sobriety test, according to the report.
The officer arrested and charged Cohan with DUI. He was transported to the Clarke County Jail and was booked in at 11:30 p.m.
